National Engineering Month 2018

National Engineering Month 2018 kicked off with a huge celebration at Queen’s Park. The Legislative Assembly of Ontario recognized March 1st as the Professional Engineers Day (#PEngDay) in Ontario, the first profession to be recognized for an official day and the first of its kind in Canada!

National Engineering Month (NEM) was created in 1992 as a celebration of engineering excellence in Canada. NEM takes place through out the month of March. Nationwide, NEM is celebrated with over 500 events for young Canadians to learn about the exciting and rewarding world of engineering. NEM events are hosted by the provincial and territorial engineering regulatory bodies.

This year, NEM is celebrated with a theme: ‘There is a place for you’, demonstrating that anyone can be an engineer with passion and dedication. In line with this theme, PEO Grand River Chapter is hosting a Bridge Building Competition this Saturday March 17th at The Museum. The competition involves building a bridge using K’Nex and testing the bridge’s stability among other competitors. Across the province, celebrations for NEM are in full swing, with many events happening during march break. For highlights of events taking place this week, read more here …  http://nemontario.ca/2018/03/09/spring-break-nem/
