The PEO Grand River Chapter EIT Comitte is hosting a free speaker series event on Thursday October 5th, 2017.  Pauline Lebel, P.Eng., PEO's Manager of Licensure, will be presenting two EIT focused talks.  The agenda for the event is as follows:

  • 6:15 pm - 6:30 pm - Attendees Arrive
  • 6:30 pm - 7:15 pm - Talk 1 - Understanding PEO's Techhnical Exam Program
  • 7:15 pm - 7:45 pm - Break & Food Arrival
  • 7:45 pm - 8:45 pm - Talk 2 - How to Present your PEO Experience Record
  • 8:45 pm - 9:00 pm - Final Questions/Wrap-up

Although your event ticket will provide you access to both talks, if you are only interested in Talk 1 you are welcome to leave at any point during the 7:15 - 7:45 break.  Similarly, if you are only interested in Talk 2 you are welcome to arrive during the break.

WHAT: PEO Grand River Chapter is hosting a presentation about the Practice Evaluation and Knowledge (PEAK) Program

WHEN: Thursday, September 14, 2017 starting at 6:30 pm

WHERE: Kitchener City Hall (200 King St. W), Conestoga Room Main Floor

WHO: Chapter members (P.Engs and EITs)

This seminar will provide a comprehensive overview of the PEAK program, including what PEO license holders need to do to complete the program.

Bernard Ennis, P. Eng., Director of Policy and Professional Affairs at PEO Toronto Head office will lead the Presentation and will emphasize:

  • Why PEO is implementing the PEAK program;
  • An overview of the three PEAK program elements (practice evaluation questionnaire, continuing knowledge declaration, online ethics module), and
  • How to comply with the program as both a practicing and non-practicing license holder

There will be a Question/Answer session following the presentation.

This is a FREE event.  Space is limited to 40 participants on a first come first serve basis.  Registration deadline is September 12th, noon.

WHAT: REEP House for Sustainable Living - 20 Mill Street, Kitchener, ON, N2G 2Y3

WHEN: Thursday, June 29, 2017 -  6:00pm to 8:00 pm

WHO: Event is open to P.Eng and EIT only (no guests)

REEP House has been renovated to showcase energy and water innovations that any home can adopt. Deep retrofits have reduced energy used for space heating and water heating by 86%, reduced costs by 85%, and cut carbon emissions by 54%. You will find working demonstrations of household energy-efficient and water management technologies. Also, see how reclaimed materials and natural landscaping can create unique design features in and outside of the home.

As you walk around REEP House, you will have the chance to put your hands inside walls, analyse the competing data and quality of installed products, learn about the REEP House retrofit design strategy and ask plenty of questions. REEP House is all about helping you find solutions for improving your own home or building.

We explore the significance of insulating and sealing the envelope, look at options for improving the quality of your home's heat and water use, and have a free-flowing discussion of some things we learned during the retrofitting process.

The event will include a full tour of REEP House and its many features, including:

  • Water Management (outdoor) – including discussion of municipal stormwater credits
  • Wise Water Use (indoor)
  • Water Heating
  • Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning
  • Insulation, Draft-proofing, Windows, and Doors
  • Lighting and Appliances
  • Green Materials and Heritage
